This is one of those Comp cams that is NOT billet. The gear is pressed on and is OEM distributor gear compatible, according to their tech. The first year I used this cam it ate a dizzy gear because I had a hivolume, hipressure oil pump (110-120 psi on a cold start!!). Being totally new to the engine building game, I ran it this way for the first year and trashed a stock gear. After replacing the spring on the annual teardown, the problem went away. This year its back with the different intake. I now have a bronze gear in it, and I can still hear it whining.

i figured you would probably say that,...but still had to ask Smile

i also have the same thing on my new low-lash solid roller from Cam Motion

Do you have an adjustable "Slip-Collar" Distributor ?

ever check if Distributor goes all the way down "without" distributor gasket ?

and ever checkout the total distance from cam/distributor gear to intake pad ?

and , on your Camshaft, does the distributor teeth still look new or is it now galled up or worn somewhat ?

Hey Max- have you ever flowed a PP (Chinese copy of a Victor) intake? I don't use this stuff, but some guys do, the cosmetic quality does look good, just wondering if they got the insides right...? Hanz

MaxRace - Thanx for the feedback. Non-adjustable collar, shimmed it up with 2 gaskets and the wear pattern moved down on the dizzy gear to below optimum, so the depth is probably right with a single gasket. Haven't checked the cam gear. Can those be replaced?

PP ??? what does it stand for ??

are you talking about the AFR "copy ?" of the Chevy Bowtie ?

i had one customer bring in a "no name" SBC intake that looked like a copy of the GM Chevy Bowtie ...it was pretty good
made good TQ and HP ... i didn't see anything wrong with that intake .
Customer said the Intake was really cheap about $ 120 ? range

yes, it looks like thats the one...it didn't have any numbers or Logo on it

i just port matched it , and blended-in a 1 inch spacer to plenum area

i think we tried another 1 inch spacer ontop ...but don'tremember the differences

this intake just had round intake bolt holes
the slots might have come later
