I am getting close to finishing my 69, Black on Black leather with every factory option, including working factory air corvette, and the engine is a .070 over 1/4" stroked Big block (498" engine) with factory square port open chamber heads, hyd. roller cam and I got to thinking about possible parts breakage. The idea was to have a really clean and stock looking functional car with semi serious power. Now I am a little worried about the I.R.S rear end and what it can take. Any ideas on mods, or possible upgrades? I am still trying to find a tri power for it, but everyone wants a small fortune for one. I just thought it would be cool looking, and be a nice touch on a already BOSS car.

The right size tire is a 225x60-15 which is probably what I will run. Maybe parts breakage wont be a problem because it will just spin. It is a automatic car BTW

If you use the tire as the fuse you should be ok.

You will take out half shafts first.

I've talked to a guy with an 86 vette with a Lingenfelter 383 and he was breaking half shafts with it at the track with sticky tires running low 11s.

I know that the half shafts might be a different size on your older vette but just a reference none the less.
