My friend Gary. He made the stainless cool fan brackets for the car. It is sort of a return favor and he has a digital bridgeport to take care of it. Should be nice. He backed out last night because he had an unexpected funeral to attend. Sunday might be the day now.

Another day wasted. Have to try again next week. When you are getting something done for free I guess waiting is ok.

Some progress last night on the intake. Holes are machined. Will have to make an eyebrow around the holes to allow the bungs to sit down in the hole a bit more.
We used a 3/4 end mill for the pilot hole then the drill bit to finish it out to size.

Half way point

What it looks like now. I will have to take off the cast in bosses that were there because they were no where near in the correct position.

More to come as things progress.

Track closed Oct 31st. Weather has been really nice. Not sure I agree with that policy every year it varies. Should option to keep it open weather dependent.

I will get it running before the snow flies so making so street blasts is in the cards for sure. Can't wait to feel that top end that was missing.

Rails machined.

Eyebrows cut for better welding access.

They were cut a bit too deep but I was able to place them up about 1/4" above the cut to keep the injectors from sticking into the port.

Welding done outside and inside.

Blended them yesterday. Carbide burr first then cartridge roll cone worked really well for this. Then some red scotch-brite and 320 sand paper to smooth them out.

Injectors worst case are less than 1/8" from sticking into the port. I think that is about right.

Next question is if I glass bead the intake is it worth clear coating it? Anyone had any success with the high temp clears like the one from VHT?

I did that to my Edelbrock RPM Air Gap but it looked too shinny afterword. I would recommend going with a semi flat clear or just painting it cast aluminum color (seams silly but it seals the aluminum and makes wiping off dirt easier). Gas stains paint or aluminum but with paint at least it can be refreshed and I doubt if injectors leak the way carbs do.

Going to machine the rail retainers tonight. Once that is done I will check the port match and blend if needed. I noticed that the ports were not all opened up to the scribe lines. Clearly noticeable in the photo. If it is good I will install the intake.

Things left:
1. Mount the Y-block
2. Run lines from Y-block to the rails. (Figure out what fittings on the rail side to buy likely 90 degree.)
3. Mount the regulator.
4. Run lines from rails to regulator and return line from regulator to hard return line already installed.
5. Run harness through firewall and plug everything in that is located.
6. Mount MAP and Air intake temp sensor in air cleaner base and plug in.
7. Log into the system and set parameters and fire it up.

Some of the latest stuff on the intake. Still working on getting all of this sorted before putting it on the car. Had to mill a 2" spacer down to what I needed for height with the new perimeter nitrous plate from Skip White on E-Bay. Added some ball end milling for looks and weigh reduction. I still want to make a bracket on the right side for the nitrous solenoids and MAP sensor which is next.
In no particular order:
