There are no words for how much I detest car alarms, and this information seems to be the most guarded information on the web. Our 97 Suburban has a alarm with a mind of it's own, and My wife is really sick of it, as am I. Anyone know how to kill it?

every alarm i have seen, be it factory installed or not, is an add on device wired into the factory harness. that being said, you should be able to find the "box" and pull it out with the wiring. start with the wires coming from the ignition switch. thats where they usually wire in for the starter interrupt. from there you should be able to trace the wiring back to the alarm module.

if youre talking about the factory passlock system that shuts off the engine, you have to have a module to give the ecm the code so it wont shut down the injectors. or you could have a tuner turn the anti theft off.

10 sec you are one smart guy, indeed it was, thats right WAS a add on unit from the factory. Now it is a smashed up pile of dung heap under my tires!!!!!!!! I went on a search and destroy, and the alarm lost. All is well in Idaho land, and it was 31 today. My neighbor had a 40' bonfire in his front yard this evening for "hand warming". What a great place to live/.
