I'm really new to forums and performance engines, I am considering buying a 65 chevy truck as a project and have a friend that is fairly knowledgeable about theses things. It has 383 stroker motor with 9.8:1 compression, scat crank and rods, speed pro pistons and rings, h series bearings, trick flow aluminum heads, isky cam 230 @ .050 .485 lift, the owner has never started the motor and had it built, but dent have any more info . I am wandering about expected hp, it also has edlebrock performer intake and aholley street avenger 750. I'm just hoping for enough advice to see if this something I should buy and what type of hp it will produce, thanks.

Cypress Texas, really? where at ?

did the owner say who built the engine ? there are a few machine shops in the Houston area that are pretty decent and a LOT that should just work on lawnmowers.

I'll say around 420 - 450. Should be really torquey with that camshaft though. You could do a cam swap and get a little more h.p. and sacrifice some bottom end but for a street engine especially in a truck I'd leave everything as is. It looks like a pretty well matched combo for street driving. Clay
