removed #5 piston found that both compression rings were installed with the openings next to eachother. Wow this thing has been wrong for years nice.

That could be as the rings spin in the lands and could end up anywhere besides how they were installed.

Jon made a good point about the compression test.

Had the block checked, doesn't need to be bored he can clean it up. The engine had chrome molly rings but the block was not prepped for it. Deck serface checked out good. I'm having him prep it for chrome molly rings now and that's what im using again.

I have a micro-head hone and four sets of stones with two different sets of wipes that I have not used in decades sitting in the bottom of my tool chest. It has been a long while since I have seen chrome rings (last time was on two engines I built for a dirt car back in the late eighties). Are they still being used in the this age of K&N filters?

The last 4, 2 strokes I did were chrome rings and are a bitch to get seated. Lots of down hill off the gas blasts. I still have the porting and head work down to a science though. They run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will put up any 250 to a KTM 300 any day and blow the doors of them. Don't even get me going on the CR 500 that the guy wants to sell cause it is too fast. LOL I told him the throttle is your friend.

It is cool running the SF110 again. It has been awhile.

Just don't get too friendly with the SF110. I don't want to see you in the news like the guy in the pool with his private parts stuck... Laughing

That reminds me of the Hoover joke my bil told me after he got out of jail for his 3'rd DUI. He now has 11 on the books and I (hopefully) won't see him for a long time.
