My brother has a 71 ss , he bought a cheap china cowl hood and the fit and finish is horrible . I have a 73 type LT - RS and I was wondering witch hood company has the best fit , his gaps were not even close.

I did have a Unlimited Fiberglass hood and that was the biggest piece of shit I have ever seen. It had the name Pedro on the underside in red crayon. I called them because my body guy was so PO'd about the quality. He spent more time and $$ then the hood was worth. I called and asked them directly who is making these parts a bunch of Mexican immigrants back in your shop. He replied with basically yes but there is nothing wrong with that. I told him I don't have a problem with who makes them but if the quality suffers then there is an issue just make sure they are doing it right. He didn't have an answer other than we sell lots of these hoods. Ya OK. That was the end of that.

I saw a 70 Chevelle at a local car show with a nice looking Glass hood. It was a Glasstek. I bought one. The Glasstek quality was much better and with some sheet aluminum and seam sealer I turned it into a functioning 4" cowl hood.

All glass hoods are going to have some fitment issues by nature. How much is based on the quality you get upon delivery. You do get what you pay for.

I would go for something functional. I don't believe the L88 is plus it is ugly IMO. Cold air is free HP!

most all glass hoods will need some work. i have a Suncoast on my Impala. it came in decent shape. it was dimensionally correct. it did have a few low spots. it is also starting to crack around one of the scoops. i think this is mainly because it doesnt fit the stops well and the air flowing through it bounces it around. its also starting to show where the "box" is attatched underneath. in all honesty, i dont think there are any hoods that are better. just a lot that are worse.

Black will show all the imperfections.

BTW...I have a Hardwood glass hood on mine. I think it's pretty good. Like everyone else said they all need some work and will never be perfect.

I was going to say to check out fiberglassconcepts.com for a hood, but I see you're using what you have.
I like the "being different" part.... everybody has a cowl hood...not that it's a bad thing.

Here's my 'glass hood Cool

Mine still has the original hood. My brothers is the p o s china hood that I'm painting. I might have to graft a fiberglass scoop on to my original hood & cut a hole.
