Video my friend took on his phone from this weekend. This is with the launch turned down to 2200rpm and the front tires down to 26psi so I wouldn't red light 1.50 60ft 6.83@100.23

Took the Falcon out this weekend and managed to go 6 rnds and place 2nd in Open Comp my index was 6.78 I broke out in the final with 6.76. This was the most consistent the car and me have been with the new combo. I had 1 pass were the car spun a little with a 1.50 60ft the rest were pretty consistent and the best was 1.46. The Dirty Bird was toting the wheels all day.

Went to the junk yard to see if I could score a aluminum driveshaft for the Falcon. The Crown vic shaft was 55" and the explorer was 51", I needed a 53 1/2 to a 52 1/2. I have been running the stock 1968 2 1/4" shaft and I get some pretty heavy vibration in the 1/4. Not to mention every time I let go of the transbrake I cringe expecting to spit the tiny shaft and 1310 u joints all over the track LOL. So it was a no go on a aluminum shaft but I did find a steel one from a chevy truck that was 53" and 3 1/2" that uses the bigger 1350 series u joint. I also swaped out the trans yoke for a 1330 series from a foxbody and used the 1330 series companion flange from a foxbody. Its not bullet proof but it is a whole lot stronger than what I was running and it only cost me $34 for the bastard joints and $25 for the shaft.

Good score! I ran the 1310 joints for quite a while but had the same feeling you did. Felt a lot better when I got a shaft built. One thing curious about aluminum driveshafts I found out from some digging. If you search Dennys driveshafts they have a warranty on their street rod, heavy duty and nitrous driveshafts - if you break a weld or twist the tubing they fix it for free. On their aluminum driveshafts there is no mention of a warranty of any kind. That kinda made me shy away from an aluminum unit. I figured it might be like aluminum rods - they're strong but have a shorter fatigue life. That's just my guess. Clay

Not sure about the aluminum ones I had a custom one built for the Mach 1 and they guranteed it that company was PST. But since then I have been having chrome moly ones made. Eventually I will get one made for this car but for now I feel a whole lot safer than I did. LOL

Been busy on the Falcon got a 10pt rollcage in it finally. The added a Induction Solutions Nitrous kit, leash progressive system, 4.10 gears, braced and welded up the axle tubes, refreshed the trans and upgrading the fuel system again. Hoping to get into the 5s with a 200 shot on the 9 inch slick.

I got to say one thing william, you get things done. Where do you find the time? I just reread this thread, and the paint came out really good. I like the color scheme, and the toned down green on top kept it from looking like a mopar LOL. I started a thread a long while back about building a car with input from the smokemup crowd that I may resurrect so as not to thread hijack. It has been fun to watch your cars evolve, and get faster. Keep us posted.

Thanks Knarley Darley I got to make a few test hits with the 50 shot in it and she ran 6.42@106.88 and that was not turning it on for .5 sec since I can't get it to hook off the transbrake. Can't wait to step it up.

Here is a slip and vid from our best pass so far. Nitrous doesn't come on until .3 at 50% then ramps to 100% by .9

Very nice!
Looking forward to the good weather in New England. Our strip opens April 2nd, but I doubt it will be race ready.

That was with the 100hp jets sneaking up on the nitrous so I get a good idea what it will I will probably use this setting to run 6.50 index so I have some room when the track or air is bad.
