I'm guessing the heads are for a 5.3 engine. Based on that my vote is for ported 5.3's. Ported 5.3's will outflow stock LS1 heads.

For cathedral port heads my vote is for ported 243 casting, aka LS6 heads. If you're going over 4" bore then you might consider running LS3 square port heads. But they require a different intake.

Who's porting the heads?

Which intake are running?

Ported heads for $150! That's the deal of the century or they aren't very good. My guess is they aren't very good. If you're doing the swap I'd just get it in and running first. Then worry about making upgrades.

$150 Shocked Considering what I just paid for a very reputable head porter to work on my heads I would say they are junk....

I have a freund who ports heads for a living ; but I wouldn't let him touch any of my stuff. He measures his success by the weight of the material removed and thinks epoxy is a cure for any water jacket that moved when the head was being cast. It isn't how much was removed but where that counts in porting.
