My 68 327 is painted blue? Is that because it came out of a truck? What would the correct color be if it came out of a chevelle or camaro?

Hmm, not sure about the factory colors. Sounds like it was repainted by someone and not a factory color though. SBC's in that year range should have been Chevy Orange from the factory and at some point they switched to black, BBC's were orange at that same time and switched to a light blue at some point. Don't think Chevrolet ever painted a small block blue. Clay

it looks like ford blue. I didn't really think anything of it at first. But now its got me wondering. The casting numbers and the suffix code said it should have came out of a C-10 pickup.

Chevy used Orange paint until , I think, 1977 when they switched to blue. I still use Orange unless a customer requires something else. Most guys prefer Black in race cars.

I forget the years, but there was a time they used the Chevy Small Block in just about everything.

I'm thinking that has to be other than a factory paintjob. I believe the factory always paints a complete engine so the valve covers would be on at that time. Seems like even the big blocks with aluminum intakes had overspray on the intake since it was installed at the time of paint. Clay
