i just finished reassembling my powerglide (front pump).Installed it in the car and I noticed there is no pressure or fluid coming from the lines. Also the fluid level does not change when the engine is running.
i can blow through the lines easily from the radiator end so no clogs.
How do i check that the pressure regulator is stuck open(assuming its the problem) in the valve body and tips or tricks? Do I have to pull the valve body out? |

Haven't worked on a Powerglide specifically but things I can think of. First, since I don't know about your combo, did you change the converter or add a bolt on bellhousing in the process? If so maybe the converter isn't engaged far enough to turn the pump. Second, is it possible you didn't have the pump engaged with the converter and ended up breaking the inner pump gear? Third, is it possible you put the inner pump gear backwards. Some I have seen have the drive lugs offset to one side and maybe this wouldn't let the converter drive the gear. In the other transmissions I've worked on the pressure bypass is in the pump - 200R4's and 700R4's you can pull from the pan - 400's and 350's you have to remove the pump to get the regulator out. I don't think that is your problem though as it would still pump and fill the converter which would cause fluid level to change, just not enough pressure to operate properly. Now some of this sounds really basic, I'm just throwing out ideas and some might not apply as I don't know Powerglides as well as 400's. | sounds like u might not of had the converter in all the way and when u installed it you broke the pump. install a gauge on the unit and start it and see if you have any line pressure in park. |

Pull it out and then post that it is out. There are some things to look at but they are all likely in the pump. _________________ 2001 Focus 2.0 Zetec
