We got this engine fired up this weekend and it sounds real good going to test & tune on Friday then headed to Emerald coast for the race Saturday morning. Attached some pics of me and the guys finishing her up. They did the install since I had to work but I got to do the first startup tuning/timing and fix a fuel leak. Joe can't wait it has been 2 yrs since the fire and he has been patient now its time to go racing.

Looks good. Definatley let us know how it runs. Now with the camshaft specs, is nitrous in the future or is this to help with the sort of funky exhaust port design? Clay

The exhaust port design is the issue this motor is real responsive and just might surprise him were wanting 10.50s but won't complain if it goes faster.

Yeah took him along time to recoupe and he just wanted to take a break from it. He was also deployed for 6 months so that set him back.

We had most of the Cleveland parts from the last car so he stuck with a cleveland. The storke will help get air in the huge runners of the 4V heads. Plus people like to see the old style iron run fast I know I do.

Well got this car out to the track this weekend and it ran pretty good we are pretty happy with it so far. Still working it out but the best pass from this weekend was 6.64@102 1.45 60 ft. Timing was at 31 degrees and he launched off the footbrake 2000rpm and shifted at 6200 with alittle less than full throttle(needs a new cable). He was shifting early and leaving at low rpms so he could try to run the 7.0 index but it looks like he should have signed up for the 6.50 index. He wen't out in the first round running a 6.85 with 3/4 throttle, 6000 rpm shifts and footbrake 1500 rpm. We were wanting 10.50s to low 10s out of this car and that 1/8 time should be right in the 10.50 ball park so with a looser converter 4.56 or 4.88 gear leave of the transbrake 5000-5500 and a 7500 rpm shift and some more timing, I think it should get some 10.30's or 20s. The race weight was 3050lbs.

Well he only got one good pass this weekend, it was crazy busy at the track and the 2 other passes the throttle cable came apart. But it went 6.58@104 with a 1.48 60ft. The only change from last week was he got full throttle and shifted at 6500rpm footbrake 2000. He picked up almost 3mph we started to give it more timing upto 33 degrees and the sixty was better 1.46 but the cable come loose after that. We will be back at the track in a couple of weeks with it to test some more.

William,
A friend runs close to the same combo (compression/ head wise) at 38* locked.

I think a lot is left in that combo. They like the timing.

Yeah on the last motor these heads liked 37 degrees because of the crappy combustion chamber. We are working are way there just didn't want to jump right to it. Unfortunately we got no good info this week when we moved the timing up other than the plugs looked good at the end of the track but it need more timing according to them.

Ran the car this weekend in a bracket race. Car ran 6.60, 6.55, 6.54, 6.54 and a 6.531 @105.47 all in the heat. We added 3 degrees of timing 34 total and still shifting at 6500 and leaving off the footbrake at 2000 rpm. Other than the first pass it ran real consistant the car got faster all day even though the 60ft got a little worse each pass.
