Yes i did see that tread.Did the work on the heads do the trick? My heads were also given a treatment some what like that .I wonder if my motor guy could have just looked at and thought the guids were good and called it a day ? Is it easy to over look them being loose?

Update I pulled the motor .It had way to much blow by.installed new rings, but seen with the heads off.I could see all of the back sides of the intake valves have cooked oil on them, and some of the have at least a tea spoon of oil on them.they were pulled straight off the motor and laid on a table with the intake side up. Seals, guides gasket????? My heads have been milled 2 times 30k each time one for blown head gasket and the other on a earlier rebuild .Any help would be appreciated .

Thanks

David

If all your oil issues are on the back side of the intakes it would seem you have either crappy guide clearances, crappy guide seals, a crappy intake gasket seal, or some combo of the preceding. Something's definitely crappy. How did you conclude you had excessive blowby?

also check the rocker studs
oil can seep by the threads which run through the intake ports
seal em up with some right stuff or similar

The blow by was pumping out of the valve covers bad. With just the breathers on ,no vac lines ran to exhaust and with the hood off it looked like smoke coming from breathers . I just looked at the valve seals wile they are still on the heads They look like the white plastic ones with a metal band around them. I thought with the money I payed to have them reworked they would have the blue vinton ones on there .

Glad you found and fixed the problem. It sounded like a valve guide problem. Where did your machinist think the problem was - heads or cylinders? We're always curious as to the exact cause of something like this. Now drive that thing and enjoy! Clay

What oil are you using to break it in?

I know, may sound like voodoo, but my recent experience with breakin and different oil changed my feelings about it...

Just cheap 10/30. I looked when the motor was apart to see if the gap between the intake and the heads was to big and it looked ok. Im wondering now if maybe its not . These heads have been cut 30tho 2 times . .

That is quite a bit of milling on the deck surface without an adjustment on the intake face....

Mr. Gasket does make a .120- .125 thick paper gasket that might take care of the problem MRG-106 is .120", MRG-116 is .125" thick. It is what I used after seeing a bit of oil in the floor of my intake ports when I changed cams. Problem solved.

Felpros will not work if there is enough of a difference between the heads and intake.

At this point pull the carb and look to see if you have any oil residue on the floor!
