Well I bought some steel core rubber Moroso 93020 gaskets back at the Nationals up at NED in 2008. I did not drive the car much last year and now with the motor back in the car I noticed the back lower corner of the cover is leaking. These are .172" thick and I want to replace them with something a bit thicker to solve the problem.

The FelPro Z-1628 gaskets are 1/4" thick and are 47.95 + ship

The Edelbrock 7549 gaskets are 5/16" thick and are only 17.50+ ship

They both appear to be the same type steel core with rubber.
The price difference between the 2 is kind of crazy.
Anyone use either one?

The Edel is the same as MR Gasket 5861. Not a pure rubber but is reusable.

I use the 3/16 rubber and have been happy so far. Lost count the amount of take off and install.

Fel-Pro is way over priced.

I have never had very good luck with those gaskets either. I tried them on my race car with a BB chevy, and it wouldnt pull as much vacuum. I have cork glued to the valve covers really good so they stay on the cover when removed. They are 5 years old and still work fine. I know how well they seal because of the crank case vacuum or lack of if they are leaking.

Fel Pro Perf...........1604. I get them in bulk.....10 for around 100bucks. It is the double lam cork/steel. About .313 thick. Reuse them prolly 10 times and toss them.

I just picked up a set of what I used to run before trying these Moroso rubber ones that leak. They are the 5/16" thick VS12869AC Blue Stripe cork gaskets. I've used them for years with no real issues but always had to replace them at some point 1- 2 years depending on how much I drive the car. I will glue this set to the cover and not worry about it. I bought them at the local Autozone and they were only 12 bucks. For the time of use per dollar spent they should be good to go for at least a year or 2 maybe more. I do appreciate the advise and guidance you all provided.
Thanks,
Paul
