I finally got off my ass and put the cat back on my 2002 Z28. It's a Hooker cat back system. The system fit ok. I need still need to cut one of the tail pipes down a little so I can adjust it up a little more. Sound wise it's not too loud at idle and cruising but noticeably louder at WOT. Power wise I really wasn't expecting too much, however the butt dyno thinks it picked up a good amount. Before driving the car in low1 it would only break the tires free from a 10 mph roll or less. Now it's breaks them free from about 25 mph or so. I haven't datalogged it yet but injectors may be required since before I was at 99% duty cycle at WOT. (Time to throw in the 42 lb/hrs).

Now I need to get the headers welded up and put them on.

Its probably just the bald tires and not the butt dyno Laughing J/K sounds like a good upgrade. Kind of makes you wonder why the factory didnt just do it in the first place.

The Z28 was rated at 310HP and the SS at 320HP. The only change is the cat back exhaust. The exhaust I put on flows a little better than the factory SS exhaust. The truth will be in the track times.

Just need to weld up these headers and put them on for the big boost.

As you guys know I didn't make it to the track. I ran into some problems with installing the injectors / tune. I think the issue was a loose injector connector.

I was able to take the car out for a bit put some injector cleaner in the tank and ran it around for a while datalogging. The car is running lean at idle and rich at WOT. I made a WOT datalog from 50 to 80 mph. I then went over old log files from my passes when I ran my best time of 12.3. Previously the car averaged 3.8 seconds from 50 - 80 mph. Today's run it ran 3.3 seconds 50 - 80, a gain of 0.5 seconds, and it's running too rich (around 11.9:1). It should pick up a little when I lean it out. I knew the butt dyno wasn't lying.

I'm so bummed because I'm pretty sure I'd be holding an 11 second timeslip if I made it to the track. I can't wait to see what headers and a real Y-pipe will do.

Maybe you just found some accidental power with it a little richer than before. We have found 12to1 pretty close to max power with my combo. I will be curious to see what happens when you lean it out.

I found out what killed the car battery, my laptop. It did it to me again tonight. I was ready to go out for some "tuning". Before heading out I needed to get the correct parameters to log. So I plugged in the laptop to the car and within minutes it killed the car battery to the point it wouldn't start.
