There are stupid people everywhere we go.

I always check rear view even on those rare solo runs. I am sure Tony will from now on too.

IMO even though it was on private land I think they should call the athorities and see how they feel about leaving the scene of an accident. I don't know the law on that but you might find an officer at least willing to make the guy sweat.

Since everybody signed a waiver, probably not a leg to stand on. REALLY stupid though. I can't really say who is at fault. If the guy had never run before, he just might have just flat out not known. You could say the starter shouldn't have even had him on the track period while there was a solo run happening. No doubt the end result sucks though and I'm glad he wasn't hurt - scary. I will start looking in the rear view more though - even though on a solo. Clay

lots of things wrong with that situation. first of all, i ALWAYS expect the guy next to me in the staging lanes to be a complete idiot and never raced before. i have to watch out for him. second, unless you have someone there with you to MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET A SOLO RUN, then no one knows what youre thinking and will assume that after you leave, its ok to run. did anyone tell the guy in the truck that they wanted a solo run ? i have no problem walking over to the guy in the other lane, while were in the staging lanes, and discussing wether we are going down the track together or solo. "what weve got here is a failure to communicate"

I don't really know what the proper etiquette is... but when I'm the slower of the 2, I make sure I give plenty of room and when I'm the faster of the 2, I am constantly looking after the stripe.

Could have been a lot worse.

Dumba$$'s are everywhere and you need to be on the look out.

Friday at the local track someone hit the wall at the big end with I believe a 9 second car. He was OK but the car is beat up. Complained of a steering issue, I suspect the 25mph sustained wind headwind with gusts to 36 turned into a cross wind on him.

A while back an aquaintance lost control of his burnout and hammered the wall in the lane next to me. Again, driver OK. That case was a case of inexperianced driver rapidly putting together more car than he could handle. left tire hooked and the car hooked right into the right wall, at least he was in the right lane.

dont know about other states but here, if you make contact with another driver on private property, the police cant do anything about it unless it falls under an assault charge or something similar. as far as the cars go, you just better have good insurance. happens all the time at Walmart. two morons backing out at the same time, yaking on their cel phones, then BAM!!! they bit@h, moan, and call the police only to find out that theres nothing the officer can do.

actually, if that same situation occurred on a public highway, instead of a track, the driver of the Camaro would have been cited with " failure to yield right of way" to the truck because he turned in front of him.

Ya know, I'm just going to say it-

A lot of people dont know all the rules, regulations, and proper etiquette for the track. I know I dont, I have yet to run anything of mine down there. I know what I observe others doing, but i dont know what is right/wrong.rude out of all of that?!

It doesnt help that so many people who DO know, are a bit condescending when asked. What this leads to is people who are clueless remaining clueless unless they have to learn the hard way... Possibly at the expense of others too!

Sucks!!

communicate, communicate, communicate !!!!! no one is born with that knowledge. dont be intimidated by someone who seemingly has a better car, trailer, or whatever. dont be afraid of the tech and staff guys at the track either. the way i see it, i paid my money to run just like everyone else and NO ONE is going to belittle ME just because they run a pro mod and im in a street car. if im unsure about something, im going to be a thorn in someones side until i get my answer no matter who finds it annoying.

Saturday I tried bracket racing for the first time. I was clueless on how that all worked. Made one mistake and ended up in the lanes with the wrong group once Embarassed in qualifying but other than that I asked questions of a LOT of different folks be they track workers or just the guy in thre next lane adjusting tire pressure.

Everyone was helpful.

WIR
That is only 40 minutes or so from home, only 15 from work if I go on a weeknight.

Never hook there like I do at GLD.

The headwind was wicked. Few posts up I said friday someone hit the wall, that was saturday. Just all turned around because I usually go there friday nights, was my first saturday there.

Forget all that!!!!
The starter has gotten pretty pissy to me bringing my car up. You know what??? Fuch him!! He doesn't have a clue how fuchhin scared I am!!!! Yea it is a 9 second car but shyt happens.
I had a time when the starter lined me up with another 9 second car and I was yelling at my son to line it up on a single. I killed the engine. Not going there. Amazing!!!
