I am looking for a good tech book on electronics-

Wanting to learn how to read diagrams with all the symbols for different components i.e. for resistors and diodes etc

Basically, looking for a book that doesnt explain crimping on connectors and why fuses are important for preventing fires...

Anyone have a book like this they liked? If so, titles or ISBN numbers would be most excellent...

You may find this funny But ... Radio Shack sells an electronics hobby kit that allows you to build projects out of this one box provided you can read a schematic. Therefore I think it is a great way to learn what all of the symbols mean and why and where they go. You can bread board a siren, a radio, an alarm clock and hundreds of other projects that show how electronic devices work and take you from a simple light and switch up to a computer interface. Cost was about $60 bucks last time I looked; but you could donate to a school for a tax write off when you are done with it (if you ever want to part with it). No soldering or crimping; just plug and play, and play, and play some more.

Might be some fun!

I have found a site run by some serious car audio and alarm installers... some good info there so far
