I'm guessing there HAD to be some oops moments developing this setup - magazines just don't necessarily don't cover all that. Based on this one quick article now everybody probably thinks if he made 3700 that easy, surely I should be able to have 2000 in my daily driver Very Happy Rolling Eyes . Forgot to look at the magazine today but I searched around and found his list of sponsors.
Quote:
for all their hard work & support as well as all of our sponsors including Flowmaster, Big Stuff 3, Larson Race Cars, Red Line Oil, Precision Turbo, Liberty Gears, Wilson Manifolds, Hoosier Tires, VP Race Fuels, Dart, Jesel, GRP, JE Pistons, Speedglass, Race Pak, Baudier Graphix, Penske Shocks, CFE, Jory’s Rod and Custom, NRC, Swain, MSD, Flatout Gaskets, Manton Push Rods, Powermaster, Weldon Racing Pumps and ARP

Looks like it's GRP rods for him, that would be my best uneducated guess. Clay

Hey Corey the stuff in my motor is one off, and it costs about the same, just takes a little longer to get because they have to make it instead of having it in stock. I even have them do shallower ring depths and that doesnt change the price either. The high end rod companies will make any length you want.

I guess in the strictest sense most of my stuff is one off, rods were made to my specs, pistons as well, custom ground cam, etc.

This stuff pretty much was the same cost as off the shelf. Now that everybody is using cnc to machine things it made custom stuff not so "special" anymore.

Cheers

Corey

Laughing It is funny on the one off stuff. We took 1 piston and mutilated it till it worked with the head and cam then sent it to JE to duplicate it with a thicker crown. There is now a Fitting brand JE piston build#. It was way more than shelf pistons though. Shocked
