I'm considering a 6.0 LQ4/4L80E combo for my 79 Camaro. The 4L80E is much bigger and the mounting point is approximately 7" further back. Does anybody make a crossmember for this swap? Any suggestions on a stock unit I can cut / weld?

Dave.... I checked their site and I didn't see one. I'm thinking I might have to make one up. Any suggestions for a factory option that I could use to modify?

Global West might make somthing. I put one of those(4L80E) in a 94 Firebird and they made the shorter torque arm we needed.

Check this site:

http://www.transmissioncenter.net/gforce_double_hump_crossmembers_.htm#4l80e

Go down until you find this product:

Don @ PATC is a decent enough guy too... Besides the one little error in my AODE from him I have been pretty happy and would go with his stuff again

I'm new here, gentlemen, looking forward to participating. I have been looking for a cross member supplier for my business and came across this thread.

These guys:

www.xfactorcrossmembers.com

have a bunch of crossmembers listed for the 4l80e along with several other transmissions for a bunch of models. They have what you need for the '79. Here is what I see for your car: http://xfactorcrossmembers.com/shop.htm#ecwid:mode=product&product=1717829.

The parts look pretty cool. I have e-mailed them about getting a dealer account, but it looks like you can buy direct from them.

Good luck!

Smoke, i could probably get the guys at work to design/build you one specifically for your application but it will probably be pricey. how much are you looking to spend ?

It's nice to be welcomed. I have joined other forums that were not so friendly right off the bat.

I try not to sell anything on the forums, but if I have something on the shelf that will help someone out of a pickle, or have something in my head for that matter, I am happy to share. thumbsup
