Guy just came in with a 84 GN that he bought for $3000. Wants to know what he can do to add a little performance to the stock engine. I'm not too familiar with the GN and thought maybe some body on here might know something. Everything is stock 84 with a boat load of miles. Any suggestions that won't involve me having to rebuild would be great. Bolt on or tweaking would be great. Thanks in advance.

I remember reading a magazine a few years ago that did a buildup that would be perfect. Seems like they doubled the factory horsepower before they went internal (had to at that point - it puked as well as I can remember). I'll search around and see if I can find out who did the article. Clay

86GN should have the most knowledge about these cars. PM him for some info I have not seen him posting in a while.

I was thinking of suggesting a 555 BBC with Chevelle parts to boilt it in, but consulting with GN86 is probably a better idea.

86GN would be the best person to talk with.

They became much quicker in 86 -87 when they put an intercooler in the system and changed the location of the Turbo.

My son has a couple of 86's. Doesn't take much to get them into the 11's.
