The track was great last weekend since they had some pro mods testing. This weekend is a summit series bracket race on Sat and Sun so it should be good also. Like I said before they prep to the level of the racing that is going to go on. Iam trying to get our car done before the NMRA Bradenton race in Mar but I don't think it is going to be done still waiting on the damn crank.

I probably won't race the '68 in any events for a few weeks.. Tomorrow I'll try to get the chassis certified. Might make my license runs also tomorrow but I'm not sure yet.. Then I'll have to wait for my temporary license to arrive.. I'm also going to convert the car to Super Pro and will run a few Super Pro races this year.. I do have a box but it's not installed yet.. Also need a electic shifter...

I hope that you'll get the car ready in time!! Cheers

I got my designed cam specs from camshaft designer today the actual grind may differ a little but this is what we are shooting for. Once the cam is ground I will have the accurate specs. So tell me what you guys think.

Hiya Bam,
I have a similar motor to what you are building but a 432" and mid 11's comp to be pump fuel friendly,I had the CHI heads originally but picked up a set of B/T and went with them.
Car is very similar weight as well,I havent weighed it just yet,but it will come in at 3800-3850 I would think..
I was also looking for a 6800 rpm peak and just on got it,my engine dyno'd at 737hp 620lb on a depac engine dyno, and peaked at 6900.
What intrests me here is my cam is alot smaller than yours,it is 250/258 @.50 yet still peaked at 6900..
So I am interested to see how you go with the bigger cam,I have been told I am leaving power on the table with mine, but mine is a street driven car and for now I wanted to stay conservative,I do have a bigger one to try, which is why I am so interested in yours..
Best of luck with it,sounds like a killer combo..

I do have some experience with the australian heads,I was running a CHI set for 4 years,so if I can help with any questions just say so..

I wish I had the blue thunders I am a little concerned with the minimum cross sectional area of the CHI heads and the size of our motor. My concern is that the velocity of the flow is going to be really high to achieve the 6700 rpm peak I am looking for but it is possible just difficult. My intake and exhaust are going to have tobe really efficent. So when we first get it running with the uported (except for match porting) intake and small 1 3/4" headers we will be choking the motor until we correct those issues and get a vac pump on it I will be happy with 700hp our goal is 750hp. My cam guy says our motor will peak at 6000 rpm until we fix those problems, but we will see. I wont know what it makes because we arent going to put it on a dyno so track times will give us an idea of what it is making HP wise and those numbers are the only ones that count anyways. What CHI heads did you have? Both sets of our were 218's and we have been using them for about 5 yrs. Keep checking the post and I will keep you updated.

Those heads will make that RPM,they are pretty much the same size as a B/T 3.6,especially if they are ported,
There are a few big strokers I know of with those heads that make power to 7000rpm,one with OTB 225cc 3v's that actually runs faster on the track shifting at 8000rpm than 7500,it ran a 9.80 at 139mph recently at 3540lb,street radials, full exhaust, pump fuel and leaf spring rear, the cam is over 10* shorter on intake and more on exhaust than yours, but more lift.
You will pick up a bunch with a 2" or 2-1/4" primary, this same car mentioned above came alive going from a 1-7/8" to a 2.25-2" step header,it was stuck in the bottom tens at low-mid 130's mph with the small pipes..It is getting faster each time out..

The thing I have found is if you port these heads you really need to work the manifold or you will give up alot, you are messing with the taper..

I also need a bigger manifold on mine,I went with the 3.2" edelbrock and should have gone with the 4" one I think,I will change it at some point in the future, and see how it goes.

Dont be too worried about the heads they do work well, but an engine is not just a set of cylinder heads, you need everything right, and think of it as a big block with regards to headers and carbs, these things make more power at peak torque than a hot stock stroke does at peak power..

The CHI heads I had were the old versions that havent been made for quite a while, they were 200cc and the port was lower than the model you have, this is more the reason I changed to B/T,also got a good deal on them,a brand new set cost me what I sold my old second hand heads for,If I had the newer versions I doubt I would have changed..
