on a recent teardown of my exploded tranny i discovered that the throttle detent inside the transmission, the plunger in the valve body was wired so that the plunger was completly set into the valve body. the trans shifted killer. the reason it exploded was due to a flexplate weight failure--ie--it came loose at around 5000 and went thru the bellhousing and dented the tunnel.
besides passing gear, does the throtle detent valve increase pressure across the board or was this a little known secret to improve shifting.
all of the valve body plate and balls were in place upon inspection and no evidence of a shift kit was installed.

hotrod_nova,
The pressure is increased across the board and is known as throttle pressure. I don't think it's the best way to improve trans performance though. If the vacuum modulator was hooked up, the trans was getting conflicting reports on throttle position and engine load. If is a street car I'd go with a shift kit and put the kickdown cable back in service. It's of course up to you it's your toy. Smile

My personal choice is a transbrake in the T-350 with some mods I talked about some time ago on this site. I don't know if smoke still has that write-up though. Cool Question
