Pardon my ignorance but I installed my digital 6 and the Tach isnt working correctly, the msd instructions said to bypass the inline filter. Does the mean I should run a new wire from the box to the gauge?

This is an HEI setup

No. You probably need a MSD Tach Adapter for your particular Tach. I am assuming you are plugging into the Tach out tab on the MSD box and the tach is bouncing or erratic.

I have the "MSD Ignition" book which is a compilation of all of the instruction sheets for every MSD product, and it doesn't show a Tach Terminal. Additionally it cautions that there is "high voltage" supplied to the coil terminals (above 12 volts) so if you were to connect the tach to the coil terminals, as one would on a point system, it could fry the tachometer.

I am equally confused as to how to connect the tach. I am quite certain that there is a means of doing so, but I can not advise how to go about it. Have you called MSD for assistance?

Yes it lists all products they made as of the published date of 2004. It also describes the test procedures to debug them, and is probably the same kind of manual that they send to Bhopal or wherever to be read back to you for tech questions (not saying MSD does that but it is the kind of info that would make an idiot sound knowledgeable about the product and procedures if asked over the phone).

Don't know if it is worth the money as of yet as I bought it for possible repair procedures which according to the book require a lot of special equipment not sold across the counter. So it has limited use, though I have referred to it from time to time to answer tech questions I couldn't remember off the top of my head.

Well im happy your msd product's are working!! My digital 6 bite the dust a year ago and just after i get the new 650 speed demon bolted on and running good the damn Pro billet distributor die's. So now I get to send them both at the same time and I wonder if I send the blaster SS coil if they will wire everything back up so all i have to do is bolt it on haha.
