Well after looking at the prices of suspension kits and seeing that most of the designs arent what I'm looking for, I've decided that I can make a suspension just aswell..... errr I mean better Cool

Food for thought? The best set up I have run on the street is one my father made some 40+ years ago. The West coast C/Gas champion for the last 4 years runs the Al's bars as they have become to be known. On the street they use all rubber bushings and will go into any driveway without breaking mounts. Ladder bars with heims will never do that and they won't absorb the shock on take off that the front bushing absorbs taking the shock off the tire. Another free advise from the some what (maybe) educated Smoker. By the way Craig Wallace runs consistent 9.60s with a 355 and no electrics or NOS.

I don't think you will find a better suspension setup for the price as Paul P. I have a friend that runs 10.70s consistent with the same set up. To use the one I mentioned would be a lot more money and very crucial set up at install.

I'm not drag racing this car if I was then it wouldnt have a t-56, I'm not saying I wont make a few trips to the strip, but I'm going for more of a cornering car. Yes I know its the wrong car to do this with but I love the body style and I know it can do better, ecspecially after driving a stock chevelle. Plus I've built everything else on the car so why stop at the suspension. If I dont get it right lesson learned and I'll try again.

It is not just a drag car suspension. They can be built to corner pretty well.

In the late 80's??? Hot Rod tested a 1964 GTO before and after. The after test had 16" wheels and peformance tires. This car was put on a skid pad and recorded a 0.96G, which was equal to the newest Vette, and better than an IROC Camaro at the time!

This had the same basic rear suspension I had with H-O Racing's version of the No Hop bars installed they worked great. I did sell them when I picked up the Gazan suspension kit which had their version of the bars with control arms and shocks complete.

The difference is in the front suspension where they used Global West Suspension http://www.globalwest.net/ with the Tall Later model spindles for Negative Roll Systems.

It is as up(live) as you want to make it. No restrictions for questions. I read the posts every day welcome El Camino's count too definitely.

Ok my Elcamino is a 1970 ss 454. It is the 22nd elky built in 1970. I bought and restored it in 1999. It is forest green with white stripes, has a tach and guage dash, disc brakes, PS and cold factory air. I recently put a 496 in it that has been mentioned in other posts. This is the car with the stock exhaust manifolds and 3" exhaust that I asked the crossover tube question about.

Sounds like a nice ride. As in that post I think someone asked "Stock manifolds with 3" exhaust?" You did Extrude hone them right?

No I just opened them up so they were bigger than the port as far in as I could reach with a porting tool./ They are a true 2.5 inches at the collector so they flow "OK" The biggest thing is the intake is the one that will clear a 69 corvette hood and I ended up not putting it in the vette, so I need to put a decent intake on it too. I put a 2" spacer under the carb and it is still lower than the stock manifold.
