I just received a 305 that I'm going to rebuild and was wondering what it would take to get 300 hp out of it. I know a 350 or 400 would be better and easier but I received a 305 instead. It was gave to me so I figured might as well try to rebuild it. It is a carb motor and will be put into a 77 Nova to just play around with until I get the 350 that is in it now built.

Thanks David

The only money I'd invest in the 305 would be a Nitrous kit that could be re-used on the 350 or 406.

well i got a 305 in my chevelle, the dude befor me had installed it. i am 15 so i can wait to build my 402 small block for now.

anyways the only thing i would do to it is sell it. if you dont wanna sell it then get a peformer intake and and 4bbl for it. and also a cam and some headers. that should be good enough for now, not to much money spent on a "boat anchor" adn you'll still save yourself some money for that 350 that u said ur goign to build.
