I need a 5-speed for my 85 Z-28. The case isn't that important, as long as the gears are all in good shape. My 19 yr old broke a bunch of teeth off the 3-4 mainshaft gear and the 3-4 gear on the countershaft. Thanks!

It's a factory 305 5-speed carbed Z-28. With 227,000 miles on it I baby it..unfortunately my 19 y/o son abused it even though I told him not to.

Just an update..I picked up a t-5 out of an 88 IROC yesterday from a guy on an F-Body board I belong to. He made me a great deal for $175, they are like non-existant on ebay(V-8 versions) and on car-part.com the yards want $500 for them. Now I just have to wait 2 weeks so I can get the clutch and get it put back in.

Hey, better late than never huh? I know, Mustang t-5's are a dime a dozen but nothing interchanges..all the spline counts are different and the ratios are different too. Also V-6 f-bodies and S-10's have them but they are 10 spline input shaft instead of the 26 spline on the V-8's. Still kinda struggling with it though..put a new clutch, slave cyl, and clutch master in it and it keeps blowing the slave cyl. Stock clutch, maybe just crappy slave cyl's.

Sounds as if the master is bigger than the slave. The volume has to be the same. 3/4" master= 3/4" slave.

They're both stock replacements. I think the problem might partially be that the replacement slave is a plastic housing with a nylon ring inside holding a thin sheetmetal tube. The nylon piece cracks and the fluid bypasses the tube and fills the dust boot..no clutch release. Another thought is that the replacement stock pressure plate might be contributing. even when you first put it all together the clutch pedal is much harder that it was prior to the new clutch. So, I'm going to put the new slave, master, disk, and bearing back in with the old pressure plate and see if that solves the problem. If it does, I'll take the pp back and exchange it for another one..that I'll keep on hand until by kid burns that new disk up and then I'll put in all new stuff again...Anyone else here have kids? lol
