I am new here and probably older than most at 62 and still racing every summer. I run a 1971 Chevy C10 pickup. I had been running a 357 SBC that I had built several years ago and put more passes than I can count on it since. My best times on this 4200# machine with driver is 60'-2.02
1/4 mile-13.78@97.5 mph. That engine broke towards the end of last season and I dropped in a 383 shortblock with my Performer RPM heads, 9.8:1 CR and .488/.510 111 degree cam. I figure I picked up about another 30 HP over my 358 for a total of about 460 HP. I also have a TH350 built with 2400 stall and a U.S. Gear overdrive. The rear is 373:1 with Eaton Posi. Real fun to drive on the highway or in town. Have to drive 300 miles to the track at the start of the racing season. Here is a link to pics. Painted original "Hugger Orange".

Nice Truck, and welcome. What's that type of dirt is that on the ground in the first picture? Never seen that stuff.

That is the kind of dirt that turns white as it falls from the sky to replenish the earth, Don't get any when it is 50 below. Truck really makes power when it is that cold also.

Awesome truck. Real nice times for 4200# too. That 383 should give you the torque you need to help haul that weight down the 1/4 mile.
