My car dynoed @ 300hp and 300ft lbs to wheels. and i run 12.30's @ 3150 lbs with driver. My friends chevelle dynoed @ 307hp and 360 ft lbs. he only runs 13.10's @ 103 in 3400lb chevelle. he has a 3500 tight converter w/ 3.73. I have 4.11s w/ loose 4500 converter. Shouldnt he be closer to me? could my converter sway the chassis dyno #'s incorrect (lower) with my big converter? By weight he should only be 4 tenths max behind me. what do u guys think.
his setup:
72 chevelle 3400 lbs w/ driver-
355, vortec heads, Performer RPM cam, 488 510" lift, 230ish @ .050, 110 LSA, RPM intake, 9.3 cr, holley 3310, 3500 BTE converter, 3.73's. TH350, He runs ET streets 28x12.50x15. He gets traction and can only 60ft high 1.8s.
Thanks for any input,
Mike

i would think its the rear end gearing keepin him from being closer to you!
with the 3.73 he would be more acceleration down the track where yours is bang get up and go NOW!!

12.3 is EXTREMELY quick for only 300whp and that weight. Confused

Hey, that's what I was going to say Exclamation

In fact, the 307 HP 3400 car @ 13.10 is nothing to be ashamed about either, ya think?

Ya I agree. 12.3 ... I think another trip to the dyno is due.

300whp and 13.0 sounds about right to me.

Unless I missed it, I didn't see what your short times were. I would think he should get better short times with a 3500 stall. If he's not turning the tire then he's got slippage somewhere, most likely in the tranny.

Has he played with it? Where you shift can make a big difference in ET. Had a car that went a full 8 tenths quicker by shifting 500 RPM lower than where the cam specs said the peak horsepower should be.

Does he have full throttle Embarassed

Does he have decent fuel pressure at the big end of the track?

Like SMOKE said swapping engines would tell you if the problem is in the car or the engine. Lot of work though and what if the engine gets hurt in the other guys ride.

Maybe he'd let you take a pass or two in the car. You might pick up something he missed.

My car ran a couple of 12.30s @ 110+ with 3800 lbs and dynoed rwhp on a Dynojet at 287, so I'm not sure how unrealistic those numbers are.
