I checked out Tesla's website and they announced a dual motor 691HP, AWD 85 kWhr vehicle version of the model S.
Specs from Tesla's site:
* 285 miles range at 65 mph
* 691 hp motor power
* 221 hp front, 470 hp rear
* 3.2 seconds 0-60 mph
* 11.8 second quarter mile
* 155 mph top speed

That's pretty crazy.

i dont really have a problem with electric cars. the Tesla i saw actually looked pretty cool. i would drive one. where i have the problem is the idiots thinking they are saving the planet by driving around in a golf cart. electric cars just trade fossil fuel for coal power. not to mention the emissions produced from battery production and disposal.

I would be more worried about going up in a ball of fire. The lithium batteries they use are the same as used in laptops only bundled together to build up heat even faster. Just look at the history of those batteries turning lap tops into fire bombs and think what a couple of hundred would doo instead of just one.

Those Lithium batteries are even hard on Boeing's new 877 "dream Liner" airplane burning one to the ground and damaging two others.

Always looked at a Prius with a payment vs Focus 32mpg with no payment. Cheaper to own the Focus outright. That extra 18mpg is worthless with a car payment. Never mind the battery dump issue.
