I know this went way off topic butttttt..
Acetone is probably if not the worst the worst thing you can put on a human body.... Lacquer thinner used to be the worst so now the EPA says Acetone is better?

Not being a right wing num nut but !!!!!

Acetone is a one of the strongest organic solvents know to man (which is why you don't want it on your body). It will dissolve even a neoprene gas line given time (but then so will alcohol). So unless you have a stainless steel fuel tank, stainless steel fuel lines with PTFE lined neoprene fuel line flexible connections; I would advise against trying to burn acetone as an Octane booster.

I've heard it'll cause your babies to be born naked. I worked at a boat plant for 2 summers when I was in high school and we had to use it like soap / water to get the resin off of our hands, arms, etc. It was way better than some of the other stuff. We had one other chemical that was later labeled a carcinogen but luckily I didn't mess with it much - it was used to clean the gun we foam filled the hulls with. I guess we should have had elbow length gloves but young and dumb I guess. Clay

Plugs fixed it. Runs like a champ. Put a new 770 Holley 4150 on it. Seemed to like it. Now to finish up the exhaust and plumb a new fuel system.

Well took her out for a spin before ripping it down to rewire some of the truck. Wanna move the msd 6al2 and multistep box, and window switch into the cab, took the back of the glovebox out and thinking of making a panel and mounting in there.

Trucks not as fast as I remember in high school lol, have yet to fill the nitrous and try that out again, but it takes some brake to get the 33 12.50s smoking. I wanna be able to mash the gas and just burn until I let off.

As far as the motor is now

383
6 inch rods
nodular iron crank
keith black claimer hyper pistons
lunati 60103 hydraulic flat tappet .489 .504
vic jr intake
holley 770 vacume street avenger
hooker 1 3/4 headers
stamped rockers
1.94 heads pocket ported
nos cheater system 125 shot.

Id love to get a set of afr 210 heads, wondering if I should look at some new pistons? Some jes, or something that will tolerate some abuse unlike the claimers, although theve been good to me so far, I think its short lived. Would love to get a solid roller cam as well and some roller rockers.

Problem is im wondering if it would be cheaper and better for the 4200 pound truck to go with a small blower and some other pistons and just keep the cam that I have now and ditch the nitrous.

Id like some opinons on the pros and cons, and what I should do to make those 33s melt?

Thanks

Cody

Go to a steeper gear. I ran a 4.56 on the street with a 4L80e tranny. When I had a race car for the strip I ran a 5.14 to 5.38 (with a short 3.76" stroke 427 I ran a 5.86 rear gear).

With a steeper rear gear or a steeper first gear in your OD tranny, or both, you can overwhelm almost any street tire.

Th350 with 3.73s now. Thought about 4.11 or 4.56, but its 4wd ifs, and front gear change doesn't look fun.

Thanks
