HD replacement ordered. Seems for some reason the driveshaft is too short and the slip joint was only in 3/4" Rolling Eyes
How the hell did that happen when the trans was never touched ?

Spit out on launch....no damage

The only 2 things with a Camaro that I can think of are:
1. Frame mounts have changed location - Not likely as this would affect panel alignment.
2. Different leaf spring mounting pad locations or pinion angle change that might have pulled back the location of the yoke. This might be the culprit but 3/4" is a lot.

What do you think it will run? How does it compare to the previous motor?

Pulls harder and revs faster than the old 406 SBC.

The motor I copied went a best of 9.8X and consistant 10.0's in a 2900# car.
I figure I'm about 3200-3300ish #, and I added .3-.5 more compression(shaved heads)

Anything 10.5 or under I'll be very happy.
