i have factory head gaskets right now that are .039 and my deck to piston is .005 is it worth using .015 gasket or is that too close? i've heard .030-.040 is safe mark but @ .020 not sure. thanks Caleb

With the numbers you are stating it is at .034 now. Leave it.

I think he's at 0.044".

0.005 in the hole plus the gasket.

If you are taking a 4" bore and squish>>>>>>>

.020" ? No flippen way!!

Use the .028" GM gaskets for under 7000 rpm or use the .039 Felpro if you want to spin it.....

i was scared to put thin gasket in before when i measured the piston to deck so i bought cheap head set from oreillys but wanted better source to find a safe zone. i didnt know my block was decked. or i was thinking factory .025 +.015 gets me @ .040. but thanks guys.

camaro really depressed me with my engine may 11th 14.4 and do one pass and rocker would be so loose it could fall off. i hate poly locks never have any luck. also 2.42 rear axle gear. by the end of the night fix the rocker issue then tranny decides to start taking off in 2nd. so weird but ran like 14.42-14.56 16 passes.

I always read it +.005 is sticking out of the deck. You could be right though...

Its 355 294h comp cam 2800-7000 with 1.6 rocker speed pro pistons flat top hypers callies rods gm perf Crank 291 ported polished cylinder heads. weiand speed warrior intake 1500-6700 8 qt pan moroso oil pump. block is from 1993 k1500. horne racing did the block work 3-4 years ago.
