Hey Gene,
I forget do you have a rearend support cover on that?
Just wondering how you might have chipped a tooth.

Yes, I had the support on. The ring gear looked good. Didn't see anything wrong other than it had a small bite out of the ring gear.
I think I still have them around somewhere. I'll have to look closer if I find them.

I think the 4.10's would get me into the 10's. I'm concerned that the 4.30's will get me back into problems leaving the line but I own the gears already and figure it's worth the effort to see how it works.

I just ordered a new set of tires from Tim's Speed. Tim says guys are liking the Hoosier's. They have a half inch wider footprint. See if they hook any better than my Mickey Thompson ET streets.

Just want to thank everyone for their responses. There's so much misinformation on the internet. It's really nice to have a place like SMOKEmUP.com

Damn, I went looking for tire pressure recommendations on Hoosier Drag Radials and found a note that says they are not to be operated on public roadways. It goes on the say that DOT labeled Hoosier Racing Tires meet Department of Transportation requirements for marking and performance only and are NOT INTENDED FOR HIGHWAY USE.

I was looking forward to trying them but that's not possible as I drive the Nova everywhere.

Even the ET Streets are labeled the same.
The highway use they are covering their ass for is really related to high temperatures generated during long highway travels on hot pavement. I have never had any issues with Mickeys or M&H tires labeled as such. I think you will be fine with the Hoosiers.

Paul,
that's pretty much the same thing Timmy said. I ordered them, should have them sometime tomorrow. Seeing that warning on the Hoosier website caused concern. I've been able to drive the MT's in light rain. Got the crap scared out of me in a driving rain about 5-6 years ago. I pulled off the highway until the storm passed. The longest trip I take is to the track which is less than 40 miles each way.

Squeeezer,
I can take the 408 to 7 grand although the power drops off at 6 grand. My concern isn't running it out the back door, it's whether I'll have problems hooking up out of the hole.

Gene, for what it is worth everyone I talk to over here will not go back to MT after using the Hoosiers. A couple guys dropped .1 off the 60' that had unloading problems with the MT's.

The hoosiers are definatley a upgrade over the old M/T but the new M/T has swung the balance in there favor again lol. But you can't really get them yet unless you know sombody and I wouldnt drive them on the street there is not much tread at them at all. We saw a better 60ft going to the hoosier in one of our cars 1.55 to 1.49 avg.

Bam
