Me and my son have been working on a car for him to get in to racing when he gets his license in June. Actually him and the other teenage boys whos fathers are part of Ponyexpress have been doing all the work with guidence from us and help when they can't do it. This is strictly a track car and has been gutted to the max. If I had to guess it will weigh under 3000 with him in it ready to race it don't look like much but its a good starter car. So far we have made the dash installed the fuel cell, fabbed up fire wall, put a V8 mustang K member, an 8.8 with lift bars and 3.73 gears, a holley black pump, guages, A race seat, New bumper covers, 3" fiberglass cowl hood, whole set of Weld draglites and some other miscelaneous stuff we had lying around. The whole car is mostly spare parts or stuff bought used. I had to pull a motor out for a customer and a whole bunch of other stuff for him before we install the new twin turbo set up. So I offered to do the labor for his old setup and a rolling chassis. So I scored this for my sons Cougar should make a fun first car for him and hopefully it will run atleast in the 11's on 7lbs of boost.

Stock 93 short block
TW 170s with some port work
F303 cam
trick flow valve covers
61mm turbosetup
Air to air intercooler
Plan on running it with a blow thru carb. I was thinking about a Victor Jr or Parker Funnel web but with the carb bonnet I picked up I don't think they will fit under his hood so the Weiand Stealth single plane will probably get the nod. We still need to modify a carb for blowthru or get one don't know much about the blow thru stuff so I will need to do some research on it. We are going to run it with a 373 gear and a 28" or 26" tire and a C-4 with a 3800stall.

You should have seen the smile on his face when I told him we were going to put a turbo in it.

Cool! I can help you some on the blow through thing. If you want to get a carb modified I highly recommend CSU. If you want to do one yourself, turbomustangs has a good post to help you. It isn't too hard if you want to try. I HIGHLY recommend a wide band with either route you go - seat of the pants is a very difficult way to try and dial in a blow through setup. Figure on a transbrake also. If I footbrake mine I think a person could outrun it to 60' - you just can't get enough load on it to start spool up without one. Your single 61 will be better than mine but I still think you'll need a brake. I can give you information to make a homemade water injection setup if you want. Clay

Yeah the wide band is one of the things I need to pic up. Do you have a link for modifying the carb. I want to put a brake in it but for now it will have to wait unless I put my glide in it while my car is down for some changes. I was hoping that with the small turbo it would spool quick enough to get it out of the hole with the 3800 stall do you think a 4500 stall would be better for this reason? Also do you think I will need the water injection if I keep it down around 7psi? Since this is a track only car I can run it with a race fuel mix.

Yeah, with race fuel it should be fine without the water injection. Generally the tighter the converter you can run the better. Absolutely start with the 3800 you have now. Even if it's not right it will be more information you have to help the next selection - and it's free to try. Clay

Picked up a set of Steeda double adjustable uppers for $100 brand new and a Aeromotive A1000 pump/filter and 2 aeromotive 13204 boost compatible regulators. Still need a windshield, battery cables, fuel line, fittings, front brakes and a wideband then she will be ready to rock and roll. Oh I better get a an 8pt roll bar also I have a feeling it is going to need one.

You'll love the Aeromotive pump. They are very quiet and sound like they are running on 6 volts for lack of a better description. Clay

I can pickup a brand new 1000cfm hp for a great price do you guys think I can make it work with this blow through setup. I noticed when you setup a carb for blow through you basically make it so it meters more fuel into the circuit by modifying the air bleeds. Won't the 1000cfm still do that by changing the bleeds. I think my biggest problem will be the idle circuit. What do you guys think.
