Everything I found on the net places them around the 113cc range. I did see a set that had been milled to 98cc which is a pretty good cut. 72cc is really strange. I don't mess with BBC stuff much so I don't really know what to tell you. Sorry, Clay. _________________ I have done so much with so little for so long, I can now do anything with nothing. |

Big block head casting number 343771 where used on top of 1968-85 366/427/454 tall deck truck motors. They have an open combuston chamber that has 113 cc's. They have flat bottomed small valves (2.07"/1.72") and hardened seats. They are peanut port heads. They are called that because the have the smallest intake port of any of the big block heads cast, ever.
A normal passenger car open chamber head measures anywhere from 119 to 123 cc depending upon the head casting. The only big block head with a 72 cc combustion chamber will be an old set of 16 degree Dart or Brodix heads. Today those same chambers are down to 58 to 62 cc combustion chambers with valve angles down to 12 degrees.

The tall deck block needs a wider intake (or use a passenger car intake and some spacers), but the heads will interchange back and forth between any Mark IV engine. Only advantage of the head is it is cast out of high nickel grey iron and it has a thicker deck than a standard car head does (nothing to compare with an aftermarket head but enough to drop the combustion chamber volume a smidge).
