Hey guys.........been a while. Been really busy. Built a new Pump gas 402 engine. Same Dart Pro 1's same block. 11.7:1 compression. Cam is .866/.848 lift, with an Eddy 2970 and a single 1050 Dominator. Its been a best of 10.12 so far with a best 60' of 1.366 both through the mufflers.
10.12 pass.....

Also competed in HotRod Magazines Drag Week this past year. Car performed great. No failures, and finished second. I actually had the quickest pass of SB/NA but lost it in the average. I had a really bad day in Amarillo.
A highlight to the week was I was asked to do a photo shoot by David Frieburger for a "Feature" in Hotrod magazine. Here is a link to a video that Hotrod Magazine made of my car from DragWeek.

Here are some photos from during the week.........
I hope all of you are having a great year........the good weather is here now so we are still running on our quest for NA Small block 9's. I had the carb back in North Carolina(where the engine was built) for a new tuneup and we will be back at the track tomorrow.
PS. Keep your eyes open in this months HotRod Magazine. My article is supposed to be in it. _________________ Jake

Congratulations!!! I followed some of your runs on Speedtalk and I could see how it could be so much fun and so much worry all at the same time - I'd do it in a second. Good going and glad to see you back around. Clay _________________ I have done so much with so little for so long, I can now do anything with nothing. |

Read your article. Man that was a close race. I think you should have tossed the rear seat and passenger seat for the win . Great experience I'm sure. Clay _________________ I have done so much with so little for so long, I can now do anything with nothing. |

I actually covered him on the last day...............BUT it started to rain and not all the cars got to make a pass, so they "X'd" it. putting my behind. Bad day at Amarillo cost me the win. Oh well, I still had fun, and it has been one hell of a year.
Time for new brakes now. _________________ Jake

SSBC OEM conversion on the front, and the big drums that came with my S-60. Large Ford style.
I bought some Dynalites with a new mastercylinder. Slotted and drilled roters all from Wilwood. _________________ Jake

Was it that hard to stop? I know I had 5/16"x 10 3/4" solid Wilwood drag rotors and calipers (1017 kit) in front and the aluminum 9.5" GM drums in the rear and it was ok. Weight was right at 3500 with me in the car at 120mph. I have upgraded to the Wilwood .810" thick x 10 3/4" vented, drilled and slotted rotors for the new motor which should propel me into the low 10's close to the mph you are at when I get it installed. Finding time for the exhaust fabrication is what is holding me up.
Nice job with the car by the way. What were those Dart Pro 1's flowing? That is a lot of valve lift at .850"!!!! Do you have the lifter bored bushed so that the oil recess on the lifter doesn't get exposed at max lift at the top of the lifter bore? _________________ 2001 Focus 2.0 Zetec

Oh yeah it was a pain in the rear to stop............I hot lapped it on the first 9 sec pass.........literally didn't shut it off, when 96/97 4 minutes apart. I forgot about how hot I get the brakes.........lets just say the only skidmarks were the ones in my shorts, when the big red pile wouldn't stop. _________________ Jake
