Because a 350 has a stock bore of 4.00" and a stroke of 3.48"

To achieve a 383 you bore it .030" (not .30 lol) and put a stroker crank in with a stroke of 3.75"

Hard to believe you measured under 4.00" on the bore (make sure you zero your mic.
