No hijack at all.
If you don't feel safe don't drive it!!
That's all.
If it helps the younger crowd then all is good!!!!!!! |

Adam,
Be sure to let us know how everything works out.
I haven't raced much this year because of finances. First pass this year I forgot what bulb to leave on. It was only a time trial but I felt like such an ass. Announcer says "Gene usually cuts good lights and I pull a -195 out of my butt
10sec.et,
It's tough to drive someone elses car especially on a maiden run.
Nothing wrong with being cautious. Someone with less experience could find themselves on the wall.
Paul,
I think the weather call for rain on Saturday. I'm planning on going up Sunday. I might be driving a friends 41 Ford Tudor. It's a street car with a ZZ4 small block. He's legally blind so he can't drive. If he decides not to go, I'll bring up the Nova. Supposed to be windy. With my luck it will be a headwind. If it's a tailwind maybe I'll see a 10.999
We most likely will pit by the Tech Shack facing the car show area.
I know SMOKE had mentioned going up this year but I don't think it happened. |

Jeep.
Weather should be moving out in the morning. Should be good to go for the late morning or early afternoon. Maybe it has changed but Saturday is really the only day I can make it. Have not asked the other half for that day....
Winds will be out of the North West blowing left to right across the track. _________________ 2001 Focus 2.0 Zetec

Good luck, Paul
Looks like the weather will be ok. I hope you get in a bunch of passes.
I can't make Saturday. I have a Media Gang Luncheon. I haven't been to one in a few years. Chance to catch up with old Boston Broadcasters that I either worked with or ran into along the way. |

I can't make it either. The rear end is getting pretty bad and I'm sure if I put the DR's on at the strip it will go boom. Plus too many things on my to do list at the moment. Hopefully next year I can race the 79Z.
Jeep have fun at the party. _________________ Stop running from your pain and embrace your pain. Your pain is going to be a part of your prize.

Let 'er rip guys. Good luck and have fun! It'll be another week or two for me yet. This weekend going to hopefully watch a race I have actually been to twice. First time watched it rain out while outside the gate. Second time got in - saw one car go down the track and then it rained out again. Still have tickets so hopefully third time's a charm. I dont have any passes to be made in my near future, but plan on going with my buddy to test out his procharged fox as soon as its ready...
Sometimes I think I enjoy working on it more than driving. Maybe its just because my project is taking too long I need to tell myself this.
If I get some vids of anything cool I will share them _________________ Budgets were meant to be broken. |

I believe it. It's so windy here it ripped my car cover off, one of the straps ripped where it's sewn in. I also heard a tree or big branch snap off in the distance when I was working outside.
Good thing they were running half track. I wouldn't want to have a 50 mph wind gust at the big end. Can't image what that would be like for the guys who are running fast .
Good luck tomorrow. _________________ Stop running from your pain and embrace your pain. Your pain is going to be a part of your prize.

Well, Nick has seat time
He now has a clue what dad went through on his first pass!
The track was not good past the 100' mark and I managed a 10.26 pretty much skating till 3rd gear.
I know this motor can not take a 6000 brake launch. It can't keep the wheel speed to keep the bounce out. This is the first run.

Good news: Found the right combination for launching the car pulled the front up pretty good and cut a 1.50 60 ft. Turned an 11.06@118.xx Awesome ride I do have video coming.
Bad news: on the return road about 500 ft from the time slip shack going 10 mph the motor squealed and stalled. Brand new Jesel timing belt lost a tooth and bent a bunch of valves. I am not sure if I hung a valve first or if the timing belt came off and then the carnage. Just idling after a run is strange to have this happen the way it did with no warning signs at all. Anyone heard of a Jesel belt drive just doing that?
Good news: AAA got it home for free and no one got hurt. This could have happened under full power and would have made a mess. Still sucks but it is what it is. _________________ 2001 Focus 2.0 Zetec
