Cool, those era Mustangs are pretty hard to beat for a all around street car. It looks like a pretty well put together combination. My best guess would be in the 330ish range. I bet it is a lot of fun though - and probably gets pretty decent mileage. I have had friends beat on those things unmercilessly and they just keep going. For some 1/8th mile numbers, they both wound up in the low 8 sec. range on motor and in the low 7 sec. range with 150 nitrous sytems. I don't remember 60' times or mph, but one was a lot of fun to watch launch. It was a stick car and he would put it on the factory rev limiter when the lights were coming down and side step the clutch with slicks. Even better, he could shift VERY well after that (that's why I'm an automatic guy). After a while for some reason the doors started not shutting so good, hmmm, weird . Have fun with it. Clay

Clay, it feels like about 325 on the ground. I can't get over how responsive this engine is and it's not even a Chevy. I tried adj the carb and the rpm's keep fluctating about 40 rpm's. Probably due to high timing though. I hooked up the timing light and can't find the mark on the crank but the timing tab looks foreign to me.
I just need educated on these engines so buying a book is in the future.

I am glad to hear its not just my thinking that the mustang forums lack much help....
That is why I have always and forever asked here since someone linked me to this forum...
Sounds like a 300 to 325-ish HP setup to me. Based upon similar setups I have seen and what the dyno results claimed, not that I am any expert on knowing if thats skewed data.
Should be a good time to drive no matter how ya look at it!

| With good tires and fare driving skills you should get mid to high 12's from that combo. (A 3200 lb car with 300 hp will run 12.70s at around 108.) I have set up cars with simular hardware and that would be about average. I would think 300 would be easy. You can add 150hp of nos (w/step retard) and have a blast. You should check the rear control arms, if they are stock they are probly wasted. You can get a new set of uppers and lowers on ebay for $150. Torque box kits would be wise too...if you get into beating on it very often. As far as the spinning... try to leave off an idle and bog it out of the hole. And don't speed shift it...it shocks the tires and makes it spin. Don't feel too bad, your not the first chevy guy a 5.0 converted!!

To run your setup on my Dyno 2000 I need much more info.
I tried every which way to Sunday to get realistic # on my 408 using the dyno 2000 and was never able to get the numbers I got when I put the engine on an engine dyno.
As others mentioned taking your quarter mile MPH and doing the math is much closer as far as peak HP would be.
SMOKEmUP.com has the formula in the Math Section.
I would think the Mustang should run in the mid 12's anyway if you can hook it up.
