fuel in oilpan

checked oil in 340 this morning after not running for a while
and smelled fuel from oil dipstick
do i have fuel pump issues or carb?

I would guess carb. Holleys will leak the bowls down if the gaskets aren't in good shape. Quadrajets (probably don't have one of these Smile ) leak out of two plugs in the bottom of the carb and I'm not sure about the other manufacturers. Carburetor is easy to check. Just pull it off full of fuel and set it up on something on the bench and check it in a day or two. Fuel pump isn't out of the question but I think most of them have a weep hole to spew out fuel if the diaphram goes bad. Clay

Yup, I've never seen it come through the pump into the crankcase but....the new gas-o-hol...I could see it speeding up carb problems...My Mighty Demon needs all new gaskets and the thing is only a couple years old...
Car is down right now anyway....it's almost turbo 318 time!

There are additives that are supposed to help with the ethanol issues...Shell claims their "nitrogen enriched" fuel will help too...
I'm no chemist but I don't get how that helps, our air is like 80 % nitrogen.
