never know until you try. one thing that i have learned in my years of repairing/racing cars is that "the only constant is that there are no constants".

After you get a pass with the 86s then start jetting down and keep doing it until the mph starts to drop. My guess is 78 to maybe 82 squared and that baby is going to fly. I have jetted the prostock engine so lean I could hear it popping, and then went back up a couple of sizes, and Yee Hawww

Pinky, I am not sure how much you have been on a dyno, but have you ever seen this, my car goes down the track quicker, if I run 2 jets up from my dyno tune. Why would that be.......I know at the track I would rather run a little rich, than run it right on the ragged edge. Especially at the level that Banana-boy and I are playing at.

Well I have always said you cant race dynos. So I do most of my tuning at the track also. The dyno is a good tool though, to find things out like lashing the valves .010 looser makes 30 horsepower more because the cam is to big Embarassed What does your car run on the motor?

Don't know about your gas down there, but if it's oxygenated or alcohol blended with gas like they do here... plug reading gets real fun Very Happy

Good point on the "you cant race a dyno down the track" comment. Seems I built a dyno queen. So I am going to make a cam swap. My junk ran well on the dyno, but is just an underperformer on the track. It leaves like shit, and really doesn't recover well.

We use an engine dyno to run in motors and get a good baseline, then if I get a chance, I like to tune the driveability stuff on a chassis dyno, with a wideband. Once at the track, it is fun to tune at the track, but the last couple of time I have gone, I only get a couple of passes and then its the boot. No roll bar in the car. Car is going in right after xmas to get a bar installed.

Is it still a street car if it has a roll bar and I trailer it to the track Smile

like i said on the Bullet, "if you can drive it in the rain, keep it out of the ditches, and pass a cop without being pulled over, ITS A STREET CAR".
