I have a 1979 Camaro that I have been putting back together, I am at the point where I need the horn to work. I am having one heck of a time figuring out which parts I have and which parts I need. Does anyone have a diagram that shows all the parts I need to reinstall the horn button to an operational state? Please help before all my hair is pulled out!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but I don't have any wiring diagrams for my car. My car is also covered in snow under the car cover so it's hard to look for anything if you need it.

Do you have power coming to the horn switch on the column?

Fuse ok?

Have you tried applying voltage directly to the horn as a test it to make sure it works?

Check this link it might give you a clue it is an exploded diagram of the column.

Hey Smoke, the horn works fine, its not a wiring problem. The problem I am having is assembling the parts in the steering wheel itself. I think I may be missing an insulator or something. I have the spring steel plate, the horn button mounting cup (steel). The contact, spring and retaining piece (plastic). and the 3 prong insulator (plastic) that holds the mounting cap with screws. No matter how I assemble it, the horn continues to blow. Thats why I was thinking that I may be missing some kind of insulator. Because all this really does is complete a ground and close the relay for the horns. Paul, thanks for the exploded view of the column, I will keep that on my pc for future reference, unfortunately it has every thing on it except the steering wheel and the parts in it.

I am thinking that you are right in assuming that you are missing an isolator of some sort. Here is the installation of the aftermarket wheel that I put on.

Sorry about that Embarassed
At least it has all the tilt column stuff. That site has a lot of pages posted from the factory manuals. Good to hear that you have got the horn working.
